They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning; We will remember them. These famous words come from the famous poem, For the Fallen, by Robert Laurence Binyon.

Carl was born in New Denmark, N.B. in 1921. He enlisted in 1940 and served in the Carleton & York Regiment in the U.K., Italy, and Sicily. He survived the sinking of HMT Devis during the invasion of Sicily in July 1943 and was severely wounded in 1944. Carl was discharged in 1946. He passed away in 1983.
