Wall of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning; We will remember them. These famous words come from the famous poem, For the Fallen, by Robert Laurence Binyon.

Lorne was born in Tilley, Victoria Co., N.B. in 1922. He enlisted with the Carleton & York Regiment and served with the 49th Loyal Edmonton Regiment in the Italian Campaign. He was aboard S.S. Santa Alina when it was torpedoed and fought at Ortona. Lorne received two bronze stars for being wounded in theatre, the Italian Campaign Medal, the Medal for 1939-1945 Campaign, the King’s Medal for War and Volunteer Force. He passed away in 2006.
