Wall of Remembrance

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning; We will remember them. These famous words come from the famous poem, For the Fallen, by Robert Laurence Binyon.

Earle enlisted in the draft of the 55th Battalion of the C.E.F. in 1915 and went through some of the fiercest battles in France that year. He served in England in the MacLean Kilties. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Royal Flying Corps. Earle was killed during flight in 1918. He rests in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery. The Scovil Medal is awarded annually to the St. Stephen High School Graduate voted as “an inspiration for the attainment of those high ideals for which men gave their lives”.
